"I think this CD will be a help to teachers and students, and just lovely listening for everyone else! Sometimes the simplest pieces played beautifully can be as deep as the most difficult and complex composition in the world." "Larry's From The Beginning CD is a fantastic collection of beautiful tunes... this CD is basically jam packed with every gorgeous piece for flute that I ever heard. Larry's flute playing is excellent, the pianist Sandra Joy is also a wonderful musician (it is clear that they love playing chamber music) and the choice of repertoire is sublime. ANYONE who likes the flute in the slightest should get this CD and I am totally sure they will find it indispensable!" "I have always felt that this kind of repertoire needs to be available to young students. I know how much more quickly advanced students progress from having the music to listen to." All pieces are from individual publications and/or the following books:
Rubank Book of Flute Solos Suzuki Flute School Volume 2 (Toshio Takahashi) First Solos for the Flute Player (transcribed & arranged by Louis Moyse) Solos for the Flute Player (edited by Louis Moyse) Flute Solos volume 2 (edited by Trevor Wye) Album of Sonatinas for Young Flutists (transcribed by Louis Moyse)
Larry's articles about flutes have been published in Daily Notes for Flutists, Pan Magazine, Flutist Quarterly, American Piper Magazine and Flutewise Magazine. Larry's award winning internet Web site at www.larrykrantz.com is devoted entirely to the flute. Larry is co-owner of FLUTE, an email discussion group for flute players that currently has over 2300 members from around the globe. Performing in Canada, the U.S. & Mexico, Sandra Joy is establishing herself as a musical artist, consistently receiving enthusiastic response. Studies with Jane Coop, Douglas Finch and a Master’s Degree from the University of British Columbia inspired a commitment to new music that continues to grow. In solo and chamber music programs, Sandra is passionate about breaking through traditional programming by presenting each recital as a journey of sound through which the listener travels. Equally at home as an educator, Sandra Joy maintains a schedule of adjudicating (member of the Canadian Music Federation of Adjudicators Association), lecture-recitals, master-classes and teaching. Sandra Joy is a faculty member of the Kwantlen University College and Trinity Western University (Langley, BC) and President of the BC Registered Music Teacher’s Association: Mission Branch.
