Larry W. Krantz
Mr. Krantz holds a Bachelor of Music degree (clarinet) from the University of Calgary, a Master of Music degree (woodwind specialist - flute major) from Michigan State University, and has completed a year of post graduate study (flute) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England.  His principal woodwind teachers have included: Israel Borouchoff, Geoffrey Gilbert and Averil Williams (flute), Dr. Stanley Finn (clarinet), Denis Jackson, Joe Lulloff (saxophone), Dr. Daniel Stolper (oboe). Larry's past teaching appointments include; the Denis Jackson Studio, Calgary Conservatory, University of Lethbridge, Medicine Hat College, Central Valley Academy of Music, & Chilliwack Academy of Music. He has been conductor and musical director for the Medicine Hat Symphony, director of the Medicine Hat College Jazz Band, and conductor of the Abbotsford Concert Band. Larry has performed as a woodwind doubler with Mart Kenney, Bob Day, The Mal Simpson Big Band, The Southern Alberta Big Band, the M.S.U. Jazz Ensemble, has fronted many jazz combos, and has worked in Musical Theatre Pit Orchestras in Banff, Calgary, Medicine Hat, and Lansing, Michigan. Larry has performed solo and chamber music recitals in Canada, the U.S. and England. Larry's articles about flutes have been published in Daily Notes for Flutists (Pikes Peak Flute Choir), Pan (British Flute Society journal), Flutist Quarterly (NFA Journal), American Piper Magazine (Detroit) and Flutewise Magazine (London). A feature article about Larry was published in the March 2000 issue of the Italian Flute Society magazine FA LA UT. From 1996 until 2012 Larry was co-owner and manager of FLUTE, an email discussion group for flute players that included over 2,600 members from 40 countries. Larry has been a presenter at conventions for the National Flute Association (1998) in the USA and for the British Flute Society (1999) in England. Larry's Compact Disk recordings include: The Larry Krantz Flute Pages Web was a highly popular destination for flute players from around the globe. It contained over 250 web pages dedicated to the sharing of accurate and useful information for flute players. The site remained on the Internet from 1995 until 2018. Since September 2007 the larrykrantz.com domain has experienced 9,332,332 page views.
