FLUTE Member Of The Week
December 6 to 12, 1999
Jeneen Holland lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA where she teaches private flute lessons as her full-time career. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Arkansas, where she studied flute with Dr. Ronda Mains. While at the university, she was an active member of the honorary fraternity for women of music, Sigma Alpha Iota.

Although her career is in its early stages, she enjoys a full private studio. She directs flute ensembles at local area schools and participates in various special events as a community flute ensemble conductor. In addition to these ensembles, Jeneen organizes and conducts her own studio flute ensemble that performs for local nursing homes, retirement homes and assisted living centers.

Jeneen plays her flute at Asbury United Methodist Church on a semi-regular basis and enjoys it the most of all venues. She believes that her musical talent and influences have been a gift from God and feels most comfortable using her flute to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord."

Jeneen's professional performing experience includes Tchaikowsky's "The Nutcracker" ballet and Disney's Third National Tour of "Beauty and the Beast". She also plans to play in a newly founded professional woodwind quintet called Tulsa Winds.

Her performance plans for the future include playing for the Tulsa Sinfonia, the Tulsa Philharmonic and various contracted pit orchestras. In the meantime, she is thrilled to teach and perform wherever she is needed.

Jeneen credits God, her family and her husband with making it possible for her to have a career that is fun and rewarding. She hopes she can pass along her love of music to others.
